The University of Oklahoma is Norman’s largest employer in addition to attracting many other employers to the city. However, budget issues are threatening the opportunities for continued growth of that success. NEDC worked with the Chamber and other groups to bring together graduates from the University of Oklahoma who are currently legislators. The event was held May 9 at the Capitol building where legislators were presented a memento from the university. In addition, attendees heard from Joe Castiglione, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Programs and athletic director at the University of Oklahoma. The effort was designed to create better comradery with graduates and is similar to programs undertaken already in support of Oklahoma State University and other schools across the nation.
